The Vegas spread continues to favor Clemson football over Notre Dame in the Cotton Bowl as we head into the countdown to kickoff.
Clemson football is a double-digit favorite to beat Notre Dame in the first-round of the CFB Playoff next Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers opened up as 11.5-point favorites and that spread has continued to rise over the past couple of weeks in favor of Clemson.
The consensus spread is now 13.5 points for the Cotton Bowl matchup.
That’s right, Clemson football fans. The Tigers are currently two touchdown favorites to beat Notre Dame in Dallas in just a couple of weeks.
That’s a sizeable spread in a game that, in my opinion, could be really close. It’s tough to really gauge where the two teams are at. Neither team has really been challenged by a good team this year. The Tigers have beaten a couple of solid teams [Syracuse, Texas A&M, South Carolina] and Notre Dame has also beaten a few good teams [Syracuse, USC, etc.]
The Fighting Irish have seemingly struggled a bit more in their games this season, but that’s also relative.
If I’m going by the eye test, I can understand why Clemson is a two-touchdown favorite. The Tigers certainly look like the better team. They’ve got an NFL-caliber defensive line and a ton of explosive options on offense.
But, until we see the two play on the field, it will be tough to know for sure. We’ll be giving our spread prediction when we get a little closer to the game, so be on the look out for that.
As far as the other College Football Playoff semifinal, Alabama is currently a 14-point favorite over Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl. That’s a game that I think could be a bit closer than most think, but it will be interesting to see how it plays out on the field here in a couple of weeks.
