Clemson football will take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Cotton Bowl. A simulation for the CFB Playoff matchup has been released for the upcoming game.
The Clemson football team improved to 13-0 on the season and locked up a berth in the CFB Playoff with a win over the Pittsburgh Panthers in ACC Championship.
Now, the Tigers will take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Cotton Bowl with a chance at advancing to the National Championship.
A fun thing done every year before the CFB Playoff is video game simulations.
Every year, several organizations play the game out through NCAA Football and, in many cases, it ends up being surprisingly accurate.
Here’s the video game simulation for Clemson-Notre Dame:
NCAA Football Simulation:
According to the simulation, Clemson will win 22-9. The player of the game in the simulation was Greg Huegel, who went 5-for-5 on field goal attempts.
It’s crazy to think that a simulation would play out a game like this.
I don’t think there’s a way that the game goes with Clemson scoring just one touchdown and kicking five field goals. In the same respect, I don’t think the only scoring we’ll see from Notre Dame is three field goals.
This game, in my opinion, will probably be a little more high-scoring with some big plays on both sides of the ball.
It should be fun to watch and I believe the scoring range (Clemson football by 13) is probably about right.
No matter which team you root for, it’s always fun to watch simulations of the game ahead of time. The graphics certainly aren’t up to par with what programmers can do now ‘a days, but I respect the time that the simulator took into filling out names, toggling with player ratings and things of that nature to give us a simulation of the Cotton Bowl.
