Clemson football freshman quarterback Trevor Lawrence was named the ACC Player of the Year by the vaunted service Pro Football Focus.

Clemson football is undefeated after the first 13 games of the season.

Part of the Tigers’ success has rested on the solid play from freshman quarterback Trevor Lawrence all season.

Lawrence hasn’t always made the flashiest plays, but he hasn’t made many mistakes. As a matter of fact, he only has four interceptions on the season, compared to 24 touchdown passes.

Pro Football Focus released its conference players of the year based on its grading system and Trevor Lawrence was named the ACC Player of the Year.

ACC Player of the Year…

Trevor Lawrence has played really well this season. I’m not sure most would’ve voted for him over Travis Etienne for player of the year in conference, but it’s certainly a great honor for the freshman.

Lawrence received the highest grade ever in the history of Pro Football Focus for a freshman. He just didn’t make many mistakes.

When there wasn’t an open man, Lawrence threw the ball away. When there was an open man, he found that guy and delivered an on-time strike in most cases. He just did what he was supposed to.

Lawrence will continue to play at a high level and improve over the next couple of years with Clemson football.

I’m looking forward to seeing just what he can do and how he performs in his first ever College Football Playoff appearance here in a couple of weeks.

Next. Would Brent Venables consider Kansas State?. dark

The vaunted freshman is on pace to be the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft after his junior season and I think he’ll have a great chance to lead Clemson to a few more ACC Championships and maybe even multiple National Championships before it’s all said and done.
