7. 1980: The Orange Pants Game

It was the start of something beautiful.

Clemson came into the game with just a 5-5 record and had been blown out by Maryland the week before. Things were not looking good for the Tigers as they were looking to host Heisman winner George Rogers and South Carolina to close the regular season.

That’s when Danny Ford had a trick up his sleeve: The Orange Pants.

The Tigers had never worn orange pants before. They went through warmups with regular white pants on and then went to the locker room. What happened next was magical. Standing at the top of the hill were the Tigers with all orange uniforms.

It gave the players confidence and Clemson pulled off a 27-6 win over the Gamecocks.
