8. 2007: The Game-winning kick

Now, moving into the modern era.

In 115 matchups between the two schools, only one game has come down to the final play of the game.

In 2007, Clemson took over trailing 21-20. South Carolina quarterback Blake Mitchell had led the Gamecocks on a rally after they had originally fallen behind 17-7. Despite the rally, it wouldn’t be enough for the Steve Spurrier-led Gamecocks.

Cullen Harper led the Tigers down the field and Mark Buchholz nailed a 35-yard field goal as time expired to lead Clemson to the victory.
