As much bad talk Clemson football has had about its schedule, could the Tigers have a top-10 win on their resume here in the couple of weeks?

Clemson football hasn’t had the toughest schedule this season.

The ACC has been absolutely atrocious and that hasn’t helped the Tigers’ strength of schedule. Now, Clemson has taken care of business and no one will question that the Tigers are one of the best two teams in the nation.

But, with all that being said, Clemson could potentially have a top-10 win on its resume here as we close out the regular season.

A Top-10 Win?

Currently, Syracuse is ranked No. 12 in the AP Poll and they were ranked No. 13 in the most recent College Football Playoff rankings.

Kentucky lost this weekend, so the Orange should at least move up to No. 12 in the nation, but they could certainly move up to No. 11 potentially ahead of UCF. This week, Syracuse has a matchup against Notre Dame.

A win would certainly vault the Orange into the top-10, possibly in the top-8 in the country. Syracuse also closes out the season with Boston College, who is currently ranked inside the top-25.

I’m not saying that Syracuse is going to upset Notre Dame, but I do believe they have the offense to score on Notre Dame and could potentially pull off the unthinkable this weekend. Eric Dungey is a very talented quarterback and that Orange offense can keep them in the game against the Fighting Irish.

The problem for Syracuse, though, will be that its defense hasn’t been able to consistently stop teams this year.

If somehow they can pull out the effort they had against Clemson earlier in the season, though, there’s a chance. That would vault Clemson’s strength of record and schedule up as we head into the final weeks of the regular season, which never hurts.

In the end it doesn’t matter as long as Clemson football wins out, but it’s still something interesting to think about.
