There’s been a different mindset surrounding the Clemson football program these past four weeks. It’s been a statement-making kind of mindset.
Ever since the bye week, Clemson football has had a different type of mindset coming into games.
Before the midseason point, we were seeing the Tigers struggle put away teams. We were seeing them barley rally past Syracuse. They struggled with Texas A&M.
But, then the Wake Forest game came. All of a sudden, the offense looked different. The Tigers put up a 63-3 performance against the Demon Deacons.
After a bye week, Clemson came out and waxed NC State 41-7 in a game that was expected to be a close one. Following the game, Dabo Swinney said something interesting and it apparently has stuck with the entire Clemson football team through the month of October and heading into the championship phase of the season.
He said the Tigers wanted to “leave no doubt.”
Leaving no doubt…
Leaving no doubt is exactly what this team has done the past four weeks. They haven’t come out and just played around with opponents.
It seems that they’re attacking each team with a purpose and are getting better as a result each week.
The offense has struggled at times, but has still done its part scoring more than 40 in the past four games and more than 50 in three of the last four.
Clemson has outscored its last four opponents 240-36. That’s a point differential of 204. It’s just been unreal.
The Tigers are no longer focused on just winning the game. They’re focused on best being the standard and playing against themselves, not necessarily the competition. This team just has a different mentality from that of teams in the past.
And I like it.
I think Clemson wants a shot at Alabama and they’re doing everything necessary to make sure they get that shot. This team is certainly capable of competing with the Crimson Tide and I think we’re going to see them continue to get better as we get into the thick of November.
