Here are some significant numbers from Clemson football’s major win over the Louisville Cardinals Saturday afternoon in Death Valley.
The Clemson football team pull off a major blowout Saturday afternoon over the Louisville Cardinals in a game that saw the Tigers win 77-16.
Today, let’s take a look at some of the significant numbers from the matchup and some numbers that may matter as we head into the Boston College game this weekend.
Clemson by the numbers…
10– That’s the number of Clemson football players that scored a touchdown in the game Saturday. We saw Tavien Feaster, Lyn-J Dixon, Travis Etienne, Dexter Lawrence, Justyn Ross, Tee Higgins, Amari Rodgers, Will Swinney, Trevion Thompson and Isaiah Simmons get into the end zone.
84– We saw 84 Clemson Tigers get into the game against Louisville. The ones that didn’t play were either due to redshirt or injury. You’re only allowed to have 85 scholarship players overall.
13.3– Clemson’s rushing attack, which had 12 guys rush the ball at least one time, finished the day averaging 13.3 yards per carry. If you take the four main running backs- Etienne, Feaster, Choice and Dixon- you’ll find that they averaged 19.7 yards per carry. The rushing attack finished the day with 492 total yards on the ground.
2– Clemson’s national ranking in both the AP and Coaches’ Polls following the win. The Tigers are clearly on a collision course heading straight toward Alabama in the College Football Playoff.
1– The magic number for clinching the ACC Atlantic Division. That’s right, Tiger fans. With a win this weekend, Clemson will clinch the ACC Atlantic for the fourth-straight season. The Tigers will take on a top-20 Boston College team on the road. If Clemson wins, they clinch the division. If Boston College wins, the Eagles must win their final two conference games to clinch.
Overall, it was a good day for Clemson football. The Tigers played really well and took care of business. You couldn’t ask for much more and now it’s time for them to move on to the next one here in the championship phase of the season.
