The Pitt Panthers had a huge division win last night over the Virginia Cavalier. Now Panther fans think they are a match for Clemson football.
The Pittsburgh Panthers came up with a huge ACC Coastal Division win Friday night when they put Virginia down 23-13 in pretty impressive fashion.
With the win, the Panthers are now sitting atop the Coastal Standings with just three conference games remaining.
Pitt will have to beat Virginia Tech, who is currently 3-1 in conference, and Miami in two of those last three games.
With that being said, I think you probably have to consider the Panthers the favorite right now to make it to Charlotte and face Clemson football in the ACC Championship game.
They have a very good rushing attack with Darrin Hall and Kenny Pickett isn’t a bad quarterback, either. But, it seems many fans and analysts, for that matter, are overreacting a little bit to a win over Virginia.
On the ESPN broadcast of the game, color commentator Dan Orlovsky told the audience that he thought Pittsburgh’s offensive line might could negate Clemson’s defensive line.
Following his comments, there were plenty of fans to take to Twitter to express their predictions and thoughts of a possible matchup with Clemson in the near future.

Pull the reins back…
I would just tell Pitt fans to pull back the reins, just a little bit.
I know and understand that the Panthers defeated Clemson football two years ago. I was at the game. I saw it up close and personal.
That, in my opinion, should be a negative for Pitt, though. If you think the Tigers won’t come into that one with a little extra motivation, you’re sadly mistaken.
Pittsburgh and Clemson just aren’t comparable on the football field. The Tigers are clearly the better team and it’s just not close. But, I think we should let the Panthers enjoy the win this weekend.
There’s a good chance they won’t be so lucky next weekend.
