Clemson Football: 5 Areas the Tigers must improve to win a National Championship
1. Secondary
Perhaps the most shaky unit for Clemson is the secondary.
The offensive line has had times where it hasn’t looked good, but the secondary is probably still my biggest concern. They’ve gotten better as a unit and that’s encouraging, but are they really ready to face the likes of Tua Tagovailoa, Will Grier or Kyler Murray?
They performed really well, in my opinion, against Ryan Finley, but had a few holes at times against Deondre Francois last week.
Francois wasn’t helped out by the fact that his wide receivers dropped many catchable passes. I want to see the secondary tighten up it’s coverage and play better, especially in zone.
The man-to-man coverage on the outside with guys like AJ Terrell and Trayvon Mullen has been as good as it has ever been in quite some time. They’ve looked a lot better and they’re all making plays. But, I still want to see if they can improve and become elite here in the next four games before the ACC Championship Game and the College Football Playoff.
