Clemson Football: FSU Experts talk, predict Tigers vs. Seminoles
1. FSU is playing much better compared to the beginning of the season. What has been the changes that have led to the improved play as of late?
Parker: It starts with two things and both are on the offensive side of the ball. First, the offensive line has gone from playing like hot garbage the first part of the season to…well, not as bad but still needing room for improvement. Last week against Wake Forest, quarterback Deondre Francois wasn’t sacked once – he was still knocked down, but not while holding the ball.
Second, head coach Willie Taggart has seemingly scaled back his Gulf Coast offense and gone back to throwing the ball more often with a group of players more used to a pro style game from the previous coach. It’s a small thing, but the results have shown in the last four games.
Hunt: The biggest thing has been the staff working miracles with the offensive line and those guys playing with better technique. They’ve also been able to keep the few guys they have somewhat healthy the past few weeks. I also think the coaches have tailored the offense as much as possible to fit what Deondre Francois does well since he continues to struggle with reads in the RPO game.
