Clemson football freshman quarterback Trevor Lawrence may have only started two games and the best is yet to come, but his midseason stats are impressive.
Clemson football starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence is still young.
Lawrence has only started two games and split time with former quarterback Kelly Bryant for the first four games of the season.
Despite the fact that Lawrence has yet to play a full game (partly due to splitting time with Bryant, partly due to an injury against Syracuse and partly due to a blowout against Wake Forest), he still has some impressive statistics.
They aren’t mega numbers like what Tua Tagovailoa at Alabama is putting up, but they are still respectable and good enough to be atop the league.
Coming into Week 7 of the season, Lawrence leads to ACC in yards per attempt (8.68) and passer rating (174.2). He is also second in completion percentage at 69 percent.
Lawrence is also ranked No. 10 in the nation in passing efficiency.
Unreal Statistics…
Lawrence is still growing and progressing as a leader and quarterback for this team. He has made some freshmen mistakes and has missed on a few throws, as well.
There’s been times where it seemed that he held the ball a half-second too long or couldn’t get away from pressure, but these stats show me that there is something special about Trevor Lawrence.
For every time he makes a mistake, he makes up for it with a beautiful completion.
He is getting more and more comfortable in that role and you can see that. Lawrence has a cannon for an arm and is only going to get better the more games he plays and the more experience he gains.
I’m really looking forward to seeing what Lawrence is capable of doing here in the second half of the regular season and I expect that we will see some special plays from him here in the midst of October and November.
