Clemson Football Midseason: 5 preseason questions the Tigers have answered

5. The secondary’s inexperience

Perhaps the only question about the Clemson football defense coming into the season may have been the secondary.

The unit was inexperienced and didn’t have much depth.

Against Texas A&M, that really showed as Aggie quarterback Kellen Mond carved up the defense. Of course, he was helped with a few just absolutely lucky plays that, if that had gone the other way, things would’ve been very different.

Even with that game, though, we’ve seen this unit progress. Trayvon Mullen has not become the Mackensie Alexander-esque player yet, but he’s certainly improved. AJ Terrell has also looked good, as well as Kyler McMichael and the safeties.

The verdict is still out on this group, but we’ve definitely seen improvement.
