Clemson football freshman Xavier Thomas could very well end up as one of the best to ever wear the orange and purple when it’s all said and done.

Clemson football freshman Xavier Thomas has been nothing less than spectacular so far through his first five games as a Tiger.

Thomas has made impressive plays on both defense and special teams.

He currently has two sacks, but that number is going to go as the season progresses and as he earns more playing time. The talented freshman is now listed as the sole second-string defensive end behind Austin Bryant and has continued to make plays, like this one.

Historically Great…

I’ve never seen a guy with the explosiveness and speed that Xavier Thomas has coming out of his stance. The closest thing that I can think of was Vic Beasley back when he was with the Tigers.

For those of you that may have forgotten, Beasley finished as Clemson’s all-time sack leader (33).

In my opinion, Thomas has the talent and drive to break Beasley’s record. The only thing that may stop him from doing so would be the fact that he may very well be a top-five draft pick after his junior season.

Thomas is going to be good and just a short film analysis will show you that much. I mean, how many defensive ends do you know of that can play on the kickoff team and chase down kickoff returners? The answer is not many.

But, Thomas is just special.

He’s going to be, without a doubt, one of the best to ever wear the orange and white before it’s all said and done. As long as he continues to work and does what he needs to, we’re going to see a really special and gifted athlete, not just in his career, but this season even as a freshman.
