The biggest question surrounding Clemson football is the timetable of return on Tiger quarterback Trevor Lawrence following an injury he suffered Saturday.

We’ve received countless messages over the past day and a half asking about the timetable of return on Clemson football quarterback Trevor Lawrence and he’ll be back for the Wake Forest game.

Lawrence suffered a head injury against Syracuse in what was his first collegiate career start. Obviously, it wasn’t the way he wanted the day to end. Even with that, though, Lawrence showed signs of greatness and made some nice plays with his arm.

It seemed as if he was starting to settle into the game when he suffered the injury.

That left second-stringer Chase Brice to finish out the game and rally the Tigers for a victory, largely led by a dominant defense and Travis Etienne.

On Sunday evening, Dabo Swinney spoke to the media on his weekly teleconference and he said he hoped that the Tigers will get the freshman gunslinger back for practice Monday.

"“He was very good after the game and this morning. Felt great. And I think the doctors are very encouraged by what they saw. They’ll continue to re-evaluate him, and we’ll see,” Swinney said via Clemson 247’s Anna Hickey.“We’ll go with what we got and hopefully they put him back in practice. Based on what the doctors said that’s what I expect.”"

Encouraging words…

At the end of the day, it’s all up to the doctors and athletic trainers to clear Lawrence and get him back on the field. They aren’t going to rush him back before he’s ready just because he’s the starting quarterback, but from all accounts, it seems as if there’s a good chance we see him suit up and play against Wake Forest this weekend.

I would imagine we get more clarification Monday night and probably a clear decision Tuesday.

The coaches will prepare Chase Brice as the starter until Lawrence is able to return, but I do believe he’ll be back sooner rather than later.

If you had asked me during the second half of the game Saturday what I thought the chances would be of him being back for Wake Forest, I would have said probably about 50 percent. Now, I think that percentage has moved up to 70 percent.

The coaches said that Lawrence wanted to come back into the game against Syracuse, but he was held out for obvious safety precautions. Hopefully, he gets fully cleared this week and is able to go, but if he’s not, it will certainly be better for him to stay safe than to risk long-term injury or trauma.

Until then, we will all continue to ask the same question: Will Trevor Lawrence be back for Wake Forest?
