How will Clemson football respond following a rough week? The Syracuse game could tell us a lot about what this team will do the remainder of the season.
It’s been a rough week for Clemson football nation in general.
There’s been a media firestorm surround the program all week. National outlets all over the country have reported and talked about former Tiger Kelly Bryant’s decision to transfer out of the program following being beaten out for the starting position by freshman Trevor Lawrence.
For Clemson football players have chimed in on the situation. Thousands of Tiger fans have been in arms all week. After a while, it just gets draining.
A draining week like this has to rub off on the team, as well.
Inside that locker room, you have to realize that the players just lost one of their leaders. Kelly Bryant was supposedly the graduate that everyone on the offensive side of the ball looked to. Now he’s gone.
How do the Tigers respond to a situation like this?
In my opinion, this game against Syracuse will tell us a lot about what is in store for the rest of the season.
I’m interested in seeing a lot of things in this match up. Is the stage or the burden of this entire week too much for Trevor Lawrence? Are the guys more motivated or do they come out flat as a result of this week? Is there a renewed mentality among the team or do they seem hung over?
Those questions will tell you a lot about the players and their mentality.
If these guys come out and play an efficient game and come out looking to make a statement, we could be in for a great season. I think the rest of the way Clemson could prove to be the best team in the nation, or at least in the top-two.
If the Tigers come out flat, though, you have to wonder if they’ll be able to keep it all together this season.
While one game doesn’t define a season, this game will give us insight into the mentality of this team and that will be important moving forward.
