The Clemson football team will travel down to Atlanta to take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Here is our scoring prediction for the game.

The Clemson football team will travel to Georgia Tech Saturday afternoon in what will be the Tigers’ first ACC match up of the season.

The Yellow Jackets are coming off two-straight losses, including one to Pitt last Saturday, while Clemson enters the game 3-0 with wins over Furman, Texas A&M and Georgia Southern.

Here is our scoring prediction and final analysis of the game.

Analysis:

I’ve been asked several times: Just what would it take for Tech to beat Clemson? The answer is a lot, but it’s certainly not out of the question.

Atlanta is a place that Clemson has had trouble with in the past and this time may not be any different. Of course, the Tigers have plenty of experience against that option attack and I don’t think defense will be a problem. The offense, though, is still kind of finding itself. For the Yellow Jackets to force a tight game, I think they need to take advantage of that. Here’s what they need to do:

  1. Control Time of Possession
  2. Win the turnover battle
  3. Reel off a couple of big plays

If the Yellow Jackets could put a game together with those three things happening, I think they’d have a shot.

Conversely, Clemson has three things it needs to do:

  1. Don’t turn the ball over
  2. Play with discipline
  3. Find an offensive identity

Refrain from turnovers on offense and play to your strengths. If the Tigers do that, they’ll score some points this afternoon. Defensively, they just need to play as they have been taught by “Jimmy Greenbeans.”

Eye discipline and assignment football is always important, but it is amplified when you play a team like Georgia Tech.

Scoring Prediction:

Clemson 35, Georgia Tech 14

Overall, I think the Tigers get the job done and improve to 4-0 on the season.
