Clemson Football Analysis: Tigers lack offensive identity
Multiple Schemes
This is what Clemson has been doing.
Basically, they’ve given Kelly Bryant possessions and then given Trevor Lawrence possessions. There hasn’t been any switching mid-possession, except with Bryant’s injury and the two have separately run the offense.
The problem with this offense is the fact that neither QB has a chance to get into much of a rhythm and the Tigers are going too slow.
If you’re going to run this type of offense effectively, you have to pick up the pace so you can run more plays. I know that they’ve had more explosive plays this season, which has led to less time on the field for the offense, but you’ve got to find ways to get both of the guys in the game and comfortable.
So far, it’s been good for 48 points vs. Furman, 28 points vs. Texas A&M and 38 points vs. Georgia Southern.
It may end up working, or it may end up leading the offense to more stalls and punts. So far, it’s just been frustrating because I haven’t gotten to see either quarterback play enough to really show what they can do.
