Clemson Football: Braden Galloway needs to be involved in offense
Clemson football’s offense has lacked the presence of a receiving tight end the past couple of years. That can change this season.
One of the things that made Clemson football’s offense so good in the 2015 and 2016 seasons was the presence of Jordan Leggett.
Leggett did much more for the offense than most understood. He made some great grabs, but also was able to be a lead-blocker at times. While blocking wasn’t always his strong suit, Leggett made up for it with his strong receiving ability and got better as his career progressed.
Since leaving, though, Clemson football has not had much of a receiving threat in the form of a tight end.
Last season, Milan Richard was the starter for the Tigers and just didn’t get too many opportunities to catch the ball or make anything happen. Garrett Williams is back this season, but he’s still not the receiver that Jordan Leggett was.
With that being said, though, the Tigers do have a tight end that has the potential to be a threat in the passing game like Leggett was. That guy is freshman Braden Galloway.
Galloway didn’t see much time against Texas A&M, but he proved to me that he can be valuable to this 2018 Tiger team in the game against Furman.
Galloway has the ability to go up and get the ball. He originally was a basketball player and you can see that in his game. He has great hands and athleticism, making him a threat against slower linebackers and such.
In my opinion, the Tigers need to get him involved in the game. I’m not saying he should start, but especially when you’re in passing situations, it would be good to have an option like him on the field.
I think he could be an asset for this team going forward and we very well could see him start to earn more playing time as the season progresses and he gets more opportunities.
