Clemson Football: 5 Areas to Improve Following Texas A&M Win

5. Second-level defensive coverage

One of the first areas Clemson must improve upon is in the second-level of the defense.

The first thing that I saw was the lack of guys in position to make plays in the middle of the field. A lot of times during the game, the defensive line would get pressure and force Kellen Mond out of the pocket or to step up in the pocket.

The unfortunate thing, though, was the fact that he could escape and get 7, 10 or 12 yards on a run before he ran into a Clemson defender.

The linebackers have to be there in that second-level of the defense to put the play away when the defensive line forces the QB to be on the run and too many times, they were out of position against the Aggies.
