Here are all the games for Clemson football fans to be keeping their eye on Saturday as we head into week two of the College Football season.
Every week, we at Rubbing the Rock give you the Clemson football fan’s guide to College Football.
In this breakdown, we take a look at some of the games around the country and let you know what time slots some of the premiere match ups of the week are coming on and what the games could mean for Clemson football.
Today, let’s take a look at week two of the College Football season.
Friday, Sept. 7:
- TCU at SMU, 8 p.m. (ESPN 2)
In case you’re bored Friday night or just want to watch some football, the TCU vs. SMU game will be on television. It won’t be a close game and probably won’t have much to offer you entertainment-wise, but it is football nonetheless.
Saturday, Sept. 8:
Noon Slate:
- #18 Mississippi State at Kansas State, 12 p.m. (ESPN)
- Arizona at Houston, 12 p.m. (ABC/ESPN 2)
- Duke at Northwestern, 12 p.m. (ESPN U)
- Georgia Tech at USF, 12 p.m. (ABC/ESPN 2)
- UCLA at #6 Oklahoma, 1 p.m. (FOX)
Overall, this is an okay noon slate for the second week of the season. I’ll probably have my eye on Mississippi State at Kansas State and may even flip over and watch a little Duke-Northwestern and Georgia Tech-USF for ACC analysis.
Afternoon Slate:
- #3 Georgia at #24 South Carolina, 3:30 p.m. (CBS)
- Rutgers at #4 Ohio State, 3:30 p.m. (BTN)
- Memphis at Navy, 3:30 p.m. (CBSSN)
- North Carolina at ECU, 3:30 p.m. (ESPN U)
Obviously, all eyes here in the afternoon slate of games will be on Georgia vs. South Carolina. Clemson football fans should watch this one because it will feature two rivals- one of which you will see at the end of the season as you do every year and another of which you could potentially see in the College Football Playoff.
Evening Slate:
- #2 Clemson at Texas A&M, 7 p.m. (ESPN)
- Kentucky at #25 Florida, 7:30 p.m. (SEC Network)
- #13 Penn State at Pittsburgh, 8 p.m. (ABC)
Should I even list anything here besides the Clemson game? Obviously, all Tiger fans will be watching this game and nothing else beginning at 7 p.m.
Night Slate:
- #17 USC at #10 Stanford, 8:30 p.m. (FOX)
- California at BYU, 10:15 p.m. (ESPN 2)
- #15 Michigan State at Arizona State, 10:45 p.m. (ESPN)
After watching the Tigers take on the Aggies, you’ll have a couple of options for late-night games if you choose to.
The fourth quarter should be underway in USC at Stanford and then you’ll have a choice between Cal-BYU and MSU-ASU for a late night celebration game.
