With week one of the College Football season upon us, here is a look at the games Clemson football fans should be keeping their eye on to open the season.
We all know that the eyes of every Clemson football fan will be on Death Valley at 12:20 p.m. when the Tigers take on the Furman Paladins Saturday afternoon.
But, with a 12:20 p.m. kickoff start, that leaves nearly the entire rest of the afternoon and evening to watch other College Football games from around the country.
Today, let’s take a look at some of those interesting and prominent games that Tiger fans may need to watch or keep their eye on, starting with the noon time slot.
Saturday, Sept. 1 Games
Noon Slate:
- Furman at Clemson, 12:20 p.m. (ACC Network)
- Oregon State at Ohio State, 12 p.m. (ABC)
- Texas at Maryland, 12 p.m. (FS1)
- Coastal Carolina at South Carolina, 12 p.m. (SEC Network)
There aren’t really that many intriguing match ups at noon. If you’re not at the game, I would expect that for the noon slot you’re going to have the television solely focused on the Clemson football game with no flipping. That’d be my recommendation anyway.
Afternoon Slate:
- Washington vs. Auburn in Atlanta, 3:30 p.m. (ABC)
- Austin Peay at Georgia, 3:30 p.m. (ESPN)
- West Virginia vs. Tennessee in Charlotte, 3:30 p.m. (CBS)
- North Carolina at California, 4 p.m. (FOX)
For the 3:30 p.m. time slot, I’d be flipping back between two games: Washington vs. Auburn and West Virginia vs. Tennessee with more of an emphasis on the Tigers-Huskies match up. Those are two semi-intriguing match ups that could produce fun games.
Evening Slate:
- Michigan at Notre Dame, 7:30 p.m. (NBC)
- Louisville vs. Alabama in Orlando, 8 p.m. (ABC)
- Cincinnati at UCLA, 7 p.m. (ESPN)
Pretty much, we’ll be watching Michigan-Notre Dame and maybe a little Louisville-Alabama. I’m expecting things to get out of hand between the Tide and the Cardinals, so a better option may be Michigan-Notre Dame.
Late Night Slate:
- BYU at Arizona, 10:45 p.m. (ESPN)
- Navy at Hawaii, 11 p.m. (CBS)
If you’re able to stay awake after tailgating at 6 a.m., you can catch a couple of games late that night. Neither one will be over before time officially becomes “Sunday” here in the eastern time zone, but they’ll still fun to watch.
Sunday, Sept. 2:
- Miami vs. LSU in Arlington, 7:30 p.m. (ABC)
Monday, Sept. 3:
- Virginia Tech at Florida State, 8 p.m., (ESPN)
Don’t forget that as part of the opening weekend, we’ve got games on both Sunday and Monday as well. It should be a fun weekend here as we open up the 2018 College Football season.
