Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney spoke on both the Urban Meyer and Maryland situations surrounding College Football. Here’s what he had to say.

Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney has always been a guy to speak from the heart when it comes to issues surrounding things outside of College Football.

Swinney has always been open about his faith and, in my opinion, has always tried to be clear and open about the way he runs the Clemson football program. Of course he doesn’t discuss game strategy with media members or give away playbooks, but he on the things outside of football he has been up-front and honest.

Swinney has always talked about creating a family atmosphere and culture. A culture where players know and understand that they are cared about and that they are at Clemson for much more than to just play football.

That’s why we see Swinney put so much effort into his players getting degrees. Even those that went on to the NFL, Swinney is constantly contacting them and pushing them to come back and finish their education. He even promises that they’ll have their scholarship to do it.

On Thursday, Zach Lentz of The Times and Democrat released a statement from Dabo Swinney on the situations going on at Maryland and Ohio State with Urban Meyer and how he tries to run his program.

Building A Program…

Just summarizing it up, Swinney basically says that College Football is a great game and because it is so well-followed, bad things are brought to light a lot quicker than maybe they were 20 years ago. He said he focuses on trying to do the right things every day at Clemson and that he wants to make sure that the guys are prepared to be successful and developed in more than just football, but in life.

To me, Clemson nation is very blessed to have a coach like Dabo. He is genuine and really does try to look into the best interest of his players.

On this day where College Football and the antics that go along with it may seem a little frustrating, make sure you take a second to be thankful for Dabo Swinney and the great job he has done with the Clemson football program.
