4. The Special Teams

There are three major questions that come to my mind when I think about special teams for Clemson football in 2018:

  • Who will win the kicker position?
  • Who will be the returners?
  • Can the punting game get any better?

Clemson has actually steadily progressed the past four seasons in special teams efficiency. This year,  I think the Tigers have a chance to turn that around.

I’m interested to see how the battle progresses between Greg Huegel, Alex Spence and freshman BT Potter at the kicker position.

I’m really intrigued to see if Will Spiers can get a little more length and consistency on his punts or if someone else will take the position from him.

Lastly, I think it will be interesting to see who Clemson puts back there at returner. Possibly Hunter Renfrow at punt returner? Maybe guys like Tee Higgins, Travis Etienne, Amari Rodgers or Derion Kendrick will get a chance? It’s certainly worth keeping an eye on.
