Athlon Sports predicted that Clemson football could see the Georgia Bulldogs much sooner than expected in the publication’s latest breakdown.

There have been talks that Clemson football would be playing a multi-game series against the Georgia Bulldogs in the future.

By future, I mean several years from now.

While that may still be true, Athlon Sports believes the Tigers and the Dawgs will match up on the football field much sooner than 2021 or 2024.

The publication released its College Football Playoff  and bowl predictions for 2018. They  have Clemson beating Georgia in the semifinals and then facing Alabama in the National Championship game. The Crimson Tide, according to their predictions, beat Ohio State to wind up in the championship game.

Athlon Sports Predictions:

Interestingly enough, the publication has been really high on those four teams for quite some time. I think it will have to be really unique circumstances for Alabama and Georgia to make it back to the College Football Playoff for a second-straight year.

You will need champions out in the Pac-12 and the Big 12 to finish with two losses.

It would be really tough to put a team in, say Georgia, that just lost its conference championship game. I’m sure, though, that there are scenarios where both the Crimson Tide and the Bulldogs could find their way back to the playoff.

If I were just picking the best four teams, these would probably be my four at this point.

If things were to play out how Athlon says, I would be interested to see what the population’s reaction is to Alabama-Clemson Part IV. Would it be widely accepted or would people begin to grow tired of the series?

Right now, it’s just the nature of the game. Clemson and Alabama have set themselves apart as the two premiere programs in the nation and I tend to think that we will see a lot more predictions with those two teams in the National Championship before it’s all said and done.
