4. Garrett Williams

Garrett Williams was a highly regarded prospect out of high school.

Unfortunately for Williams, he suffered an injury last season when he was first set to become the starter. The years before, he was sitting behind Jordan Leggett- one of Clemson football’s best tight ends in school history.

Now, the position is his to win.

He will certainly be sharing time with Milan Richard and, most likely, freshman Braden Galloway. By the end of the season, I certainly expect Galloway to be receiving a lot of the snaps.

But I don’t think that we can forget about Williams.

Many people won’t consider him a “star” when the season is over, but he will without a doubt be a guy that is instrumental in the success of Clemson’s offense.

Williams does much more than catch balls. He has pretty good hands, but is a much better blocker. He will be relied upon to be a lead-blocker in many key situations and then also go out and catch a pass, maybe on 3rd and 4, for a first down.

His work will be unappreciated at that tight end position, but I think getting him back fully healthy will prove to be invaluable to that Clemson football offense this upcoming season.
