It was a decision that was heard around the world. Even Clemson football players took to Twitter to analyze LeBron James’ decision to join the Lakers.

The sporting world lit up Sunday evening when NBA star LeBron James announced his decision to sign a 4-year, max contract with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The decision came as a shock to many and, at the very least, a intriguing topic to others.

LeBron’s decision to join the Lakers makes the franchise relevant again for the first time since Kobe Bryant’s achilles tear.

Of course, the Lakers still have some work to do in either free agency, the trade market, or in player development before they’ll be able to beat the Golden State Warriors.

In light of the huge news, Clemson football players got in their thoughts via Twitter Sunday evening.

LeBron fever…

For the first time in a long time, I think the Clemson football team will be full of LeBron James fans. The young Tigers have grown up watching James and that means they are loyal to him and his brand.

I think it’s interesting to see LeBron making the trek to the Lakers. He is joining a team that is not already a “super team” and is looking to build something special in Los Angeles.

Whether you like it or not, it also bodes well for the NBA to have the Lakers be relevant again. The ratings go up when Los Angeles and Boston are good and that’s exactly what we have now. Of course, it will take the Lakers adding a couple more pieces before they’re able to beat the Warriors and win the Western Conference.

One thing that many probably don’t realize, though, is the fact that the Lakers do have a good young core with guys like Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma, and Lonzo Ball, all of which vastly improved as the season went on in 2017-18.

It’s fun, especially here in the summer, to see the Clemson football players reacting to big news that comes out. Many of these guys are huge NBA fans and many of them will now be donning purple and gold to go along with their orange and purple.
