CLEMSON, SC - NOVEMBER 7: Wayne Gallman

Clemson football will take on some solid teams within its conference in 2018. Here are the win totals for every ACC team.

The 2018 Clemson football season is less than three months away from kickoff.

The Tigers are the run-away favorite to win the ACC this upcoming season, but there are several teams in the conference that have a chance to have solid seasons.

This time of year, it’s always interesting to take a look at win totals. Vegas releases early win totals in June and then updates them throughout the months of July and August. It’s a great way to see just how the oddsmakers view this upcoming season for each team.

Here’s a look at the win totals for each ACC team and our early thoughts.

ACC Atlantic Win Totals:

  • Boston College: 5.5
  • Clemson: 11
  • Florida State: 7.5
  • Louisville: 7
  • NC State: 7
  • Syracuse: 6
  • Wake Forest: 6

When I look at the ACC Atlantic, I see a lot of solid teams and one great team. Picking Clemson football to go “over” 11 is a tough choice, but I think the Tigers certainly have the pieces to go undefeated. I definitely don’t see anyway- assuming health- that they go under the number.

In the division, I would take Boston College (5.5) as a guarantee over. I think Florida State will have a tough time reaching 7.5, although I could be wrong. It really just depends on that offensive line and if that new spread offense helps or hurts them. Louisville and NC State still have solid chances to get to seven, but I think at least one of them will go “under.” Syracuse and Wake Forest will be fighting for bowl eligibility and I’d stay away from those “6” numbers for both team. I don’t see anyway that Syracuse goes over 6, but they may hit that number right on the head.

ACC Coastal Win Totals:

  • Duke: 6.5
  • Georgia Tech: 5.5
  • Miami: 10
  • North Carolina: 5
  • Pittsburgh: 5.5
  • Virginia: 5
  • Virginia Tech: 8.5

Miami at 10 wins seems a bit high. Yes, the Hurricanes were good last season, but even then they only got to 10 wins. Taking the over in their situation would be crazy, in my opinion. At best Miami is a 10-2 team in my opinion and at worst they could finish 8-4 or 9-3, which is under.

Georgia Tech is too unpredictable to know what to do. I’m not too sure that Virginia makes it to five wins. Virginia Tech as an “under” may be the best pick out of the Coastal. I don’t see the Hokies going 9-3. Virginia Tech has some uncertainty with Josh Jackson and they lost a lot of pieces from last year’s team. I like Justin Fuente, but it may be a stretch for them to win nine. Although, I’ve been proven wrong before.
