Former Tiger quarterback Deshaun Watson vouched for Kelly Bryant in his latest interview talking Clemson football and much more.

Former Clemson football quarterback Deshaun Watson has kept his head level and has remained actively involved in the Tiger program and the community since leaving Clemson last year.

Watson won the starting position at quarterback for the Houston Texans last season before tearing his ACL.

Now, Watson has gone through rehab and is looking to make a full recovery for the 2018 season.

In an interview with Gene Sapakoff of The Post and Courier, Watson spoke on many topics, including the Texans, charity work, and the Clemson football program.

Watson was in Charleston hosting “The Charleys” Friday night and took time to talk to Sapakoff for quite some time.

When Sapakoff asked Watson about the Clemson quarterback situation, here’s what he had to say via The Post and Courier:

"“I’m not sure but if I had a choice I’d keep Kelly Bryant — a guy that led you and won 12 games and got you back in the College Football Playoff and made all the plays. He’s proven he can do the right things on and off the field so there’s no point in changing.”"

A Class Act…

Would you expect anything else from Deshaun Watson? Of course he is going to completely support the Clemson football program no matter what.

He and Kelly Bryant were great friends, from what we know, and it’s clear that he wants to see his friend get a chance. Bryant did lead the Tigers to a College Football Playoff last season and won the ACC title.

Most Clemson fans are excited to see 5-star Trevor Lawrence and what he can do on the field. Kind of like they were when a 5-star QB can in with the name Deshaun Watson.

Who knows what will happen with the QB battle this fall, but it’s clear that Watson still has the utmost respect for Coach Swinney and wishes his former program nothing but the best.

On the other front, I believe that Watson will have a great chance to be one of the premiere QBs of the NFL this season. He has a talented receiving option in DeAndre Hopkins and is the type of guy that just knows how to win.
