Elite corner, Sheridan Jones commits to Clemson
Sheridan Jones is now the 10th player to commit to the 2019 Clemson football recruiting class.
A few moments ago, Sheridan Jones, a four-star cornerback, became the sixth player to commit to Clemson since last Friday. Three-star linebacker Bryton Constantin, University Lab(LA), gave his pledge on Friday, five-star receiver Frank Ladson, South Dade(FL), four-star quarterback Taisun Phommachanh, Avon Old Farms(CT), and three-star safety Lannden Zanders, Crest(NC) on Saturday and four-star running back Chez Mellusi, Naples(FL) on Monday.
The Virginia native by way of Maury High in Norfolk reclassified from the 2020 class where he was the No. 1 cornerback by 247Sports to 2019. Jones was able to make the jump because he has few classes left to obtain a diploma, and he felt like he was ready to make the move. After reclassification, he is now the No. 16 cornerback in the 2019 class.
Clemson football offered Jones on Jan. 11, and he was one of the many visitors for Junior Day on Jan. 20.
Corners Mario Goodrich and Kyler McMichael from the 2018 class will join senior Mark Fields, junior Trayvon Mullen, sophomore A. J. Terrell and redshirt freshman LeAnthony Williams to help shore up a position that the coaches feel lacks depth. Jones will probably be joined by at least, one other corner in this class to build more depth. Fields is the only player that is expected to be gone after this season.
Jones picked the Tigers over some of the best schools in the country like Ohio State, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, and others.
With his commitment and the five others this past week, all from different states, Dabo Swinney and Clemson continue to show that the Paw is reaching out beyond the state of South Carolina and it won’t stop anytime soon.
