Clemson Football: Brannon Spector one of the most underrated 2019 recruits
The Clemson football is chock-full of top-flight recruiters. The Tigers have once again identified a diamond in the rough in Brannon Spector.
Clemson is coming off of a recruiting class in which they signed five, 5-star prospects. That is a phenomenal feat for any program in the country. That being said, what makes the Tigers’ recruiting efforts impressive to me is their ability to identify prospects flying under the radar.
The Tigers’ meticulous scouting efforts haven’t changed one bit. Brannon Spector – 2019 commit and brother of current Tiger, Brannon Spector – is one of the most underrated prospects in the country.
Diamond in the rough
Spector, much like his older brother, is a star on both sides on the ball for Calhoun high school. At 6-foot-1, 185 pounds, Spector has more than enough size to play either wide receiver or safety on the next level.
His skill set would also make him a force on either side of the ball in college. As a wide receiver, Spector runs crisp routes and does a good job of using his body to create separation at the top of his routes. His speed also catches defenders off guard as he routinely gets behind opposing secondaries.
I like Spector just as much at safety. His blend of size and athleticism reminds me of Tanner Muse. While his ball skills are obviously good, Spector’s willingness to come down and lay the wood is all the more impressive. He displays good instincts and scary closing speed.
Career in Death Valley
I expect both Spector brother’s to have successful careers in Death Valley. Both are high-effort players with twitchy athleticism. Brannon recently posted the highest Nike Sparq rating at The Opening in Atlanta. Mind you this camp was loaded from top to bottom with elite talent.
Next: What position will Jackson Carman play in 2018?
Whatever Spector decides to play at Clemson, I am positive he will see the field early and often. He is one of the biggest sleepers in the 2019 recruiting class, one that will surely shoot up the rankings as his senior year progresses.
