Clemson Football: Kelly Bryant out to prove the naysayers wrong
After Clemson football finished practice earlier this week, Kelly Bryant gave a message to Tiger nation that he wasn’t going anywhere.
The biggest story line of the spring for Clemson football in 2018 has been the quarterback competition.
The Tigers return senior starter Kelly Bryant after he led them to a College Football Playoff berth and an ACC Championship.
Battling Bryant are 5-stars Hunter Johnson and Trevor Lawrence.
It seems that all the talk from media outlets and fans alike has been focused on the talented young guys looking to make a run at Kelly Bryant, but Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney has made it clear that Bryant is the No. 1 guy.
Earlier this week, Bryant talked to the media and reminded everyone that he “isn’t going anywhere.”
Proving the naysayers wrong…
When Kelly Bryant plays well, he plays with a confidence and a swagger to him. He plays with a chip on his shoulder.
In some ways, I think Clemson football fans doubting him has given him that chip to continue to get better.
I’m excited as anyone to see Johnson and, especially Trevor Lawrence, but I don’t think that we should forget about Kelly Bryant.
He’s going to be the starter game one against Furman and he’s going to play a significant role all season, in my estimation.
Even if one of the other quarterbacks make a run at his job, I think the coaching staff will find special packages to run through him. He has also proven to be a leader on the offensive end and it should be interesting to see how KB2 responds to some criticism, even if it is warranted.
