The Clemson baseball team bounced back and defeated Louisville in a weekend series. The Tigers are now back on the right track heading into April.
The Clemson baseball team defeated the No. 11 ranked Louisville Cardinals in a weekend series in Kentucky.
Before the series win, the Tigers were on a four-game losing streak.
Clemson will take on Furman in Greenville on Tuesday before having a three-game series against Boston College at home Thursday through Saturday.
After these next four game, we will be in April and close to halfway through the regular season.
Analysis:
It was really good to see both the pitching and the hitting come back this weekend. There’s still some work to do, but I think guys are starting to get settled in.
It is also a real testament to Monte Lee and the veteran leadership for the Tigers to bounce back the way they did.
It’s really tough to go on the road in the ACC and pick up a series win, especially against a Louisville team that is one of the top-15 teams in the country.
In the two wins this weekend, the pitching was really good.
Jacob Hennessy pitched a career-long 7.1 innings and allowed just five hits and a run in that time. He absolutely dominated that Cardinal lineup for much of the night and proved why he is going to be a very solid starter.
The offense did enough to win, scoring three runs in Game 1 and four in Game 2. There were actually more opportunities to score with runners in scoring position, but they couldn’t get a couple more timely hits.
Next: Who will replace Dorian O'Daniel at LB?
There’s still plenty to work on, but getting a series win was huge for this team’s confidence as we head into the last week of March and get into the bulk of the schedule.
