Sporting News, a prominent mainstream sports media site, released 18 early predictions for the 2018 season. Several included Clemson football.
We’re just a few days into March, but I think it’s prevalent that football is clearly missed.
The last time Clemson football played a game, we were left with a bad taste in our mouths after losing to Alabama in the Sugar Bowl on New Year’s Day.
Since then, we learned that all four starters on one of the best defensive lines in the country would be returning and that the Tigers finished with a top-10 2018 recruiting class.
It’s been a pretty long offseason and we’re just getting started.
That being said, here’s a few predictions that Sporting News released on the College Football season that involve Clemson football in 2018.
Sporting News Predictions….
3. Clemson-South Carolina will be huge.
9. Clemson’s D-Line Dominates.
17. Clemson-Alabama Part IV is coming.
Thoughts:
Sporting News says that Clemson football’s rivalry matchup with South Carolina will be one of the best games of rivalry week.
Personally, I don’t see that happening. I think that it being in Death Valley with all of those seniors playing the Gamecocks for the last time, it could be over rather quickly. The Gamecocks have gotten better and I expect steady improvement this season, but that doesn’t mean they’re all of a sudden going to compete and have a chance to beat Clemson football this season, especially on the road.
No. 9 and No. 17, however, I agree with. I mean, No. 9 is kind of an obvious one, but it should be noted. The Tigers have, in my opinion, the best defensive line in the nation.

As far as Clemson-Alabama Part IV, I think it’s almost a given. The Tigers and the Crimson Tide will both be favorites to get back to the College Football Playoff and, if they do, we will either see them match up in the semifinals or the national championship game.
