Clemson football received what may be the biggest news of 2018 to this point when Christian Wilkins announced that he would return for one final season.

The Clemson football team received a 15-star one-year commitment from defensive lineman Christian Wilkins on Monday.

Wilkins, who has been a mainstay on the Tiger defensive line for the past three seasons, announced that he would be returning to school for one more season.

Wilkins had already received his bachelor’s degree and was considered a first-to-second round pick.

There was no real reason, in my opinion, for Wilkins to return.

He had already won a national championship and was named an All-American, but he shocked the world.

One last ride:

Austin Bryant, Clelin Ferrell, Kendall Joseph, and Mark Fields all announced that they would return to school at the Clemson football banquet on Saturday.

Wilkins waited till Monday, though, to make a decision.

It was reported that he was “torn” on what to do. Despite the fact that he had an accomplished college career, the bad taste of the loss to Alabama made him hungry to return.

That decision was made public today.

What a decision. This is the biggest return for Clemson since C.J. Spiller announced he would come back for his senior season.

With Wilkins returning, that means the Tigers will have the best defensive line in the nation. They will have four starters that are all NFL caliber.
