Clemson football has a plethora of talent at the quarterback position. Here’s a way too early look at the position heading into the spring.
There’s probably not a school that has more talent at the quarterback position as a whole than Clemson football heading into 2018.
The Tigers could have six scholarship quarterbacks in which five of them were composite 4-stars or higher heading into next season.
Think about that.
Clemson has a total of 25 stars between their quarterbacks.
Here’s an early look at who we will see on the depth chart next season in no particular order.
- Kelly Bryant, Senior
- Hunter Johnson, Sophomore
- Zerrick Cooper, Redshirt Sophomore
- Tucker Israel, Redshirt Junior
- Chase Brice, Redshirt Freshman
- Trevor Lawrence, True Freshman
Early Thoughts:
Look, I’ve said all along that I believe that Trevor Lawrence will be the best quarterback as soon as he steps on campus.
That doesn’t mean he will start, though.
In my opinion, I don’t think there’s a way in the world that Kelly Bryant isn’t the starting when the Tigers open up with Texas A&M next season.
Right now, the pecking order is Bryant, Johnson, Cooper, and then everyone else.
I think you could see Zerrick Cooper transfer out of the program before spring practice begins or at least before the season starts.
Could Clemson be looking to revolutionize the College Football world and come up with a dual-QB system that works? Who knows?

It will be intriguing to watch these guys play though and I think there are a lot of storylines that could come out of this. I want to see the mental toughness of Kelly Bryant. I want to see how Hunter Johnson handles himself as a sophomore. I want to see how Trevor Lawrence comes in as a freshman and competes.
It’s only a couple of months away.
