Nets forward Trevor Booker to be traded to the 76ers
Former Clemson basketball player Trevor Booker to be traded to the Philadelphia 76ers for Jahlil Okafor, a former No. 3 overall 2015 pick from Duke University.
According to Zach Lowe of ESPN, Trevor Booker, Brooklyn Nets power forward, will be traded to the 76ers in exchange for center Jahlil Okafor, forward Nik Stauskas and a second-round pick.
Booker is averaging 10.1 points and 6.6 rebounds in 20 minutes for the Nets. He was in his second season of a 2-year, 18.5 million dollar contract with the team after spending two seasons with the Utah Jazz and four with the Washington Wizards.
In the 2010 NBA draft, the Whitmire, SC native was selected 23rd overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves, and they traded his rights to the Washington Wizards.
For the 76ers, Booker will likely get about 15-20 minutes at the power forward position and provide some veteran leadership and toughness to the youthful, improving team.
Booker was a four-year starter at Clemson from 2006-10. He has career averages of 12.9 points, 7.9 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game. As a junior, he scored 15.3 points per game, led the ACC in rebounding(9.7) and field goal shooting and finished second in blocked shots(2.0). Surprisingly, those stats were only good enough for second team All-ACC, but he did become first team All-ACC as a senior. In that final year, he averaged 15.2 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game.

When this season is over, Booker will be an unrestricted free agent, and by definition an unrestricted free agent, is free to sign with any team, though some unrestricted free agents have options on their existing contracts that, if exercised, may impact their choices.
