Jeff Scott

It was reported today that Clemson football’s other Co-Offensive Coordinator, Jeff Scott, will interview for the head coaching position at South Alabama.

Scott has been on the recruiting trail, but it seems that he will indeed interview for the job at South Alabama, alongside Auburn offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey and NC State offensive coordinator Eliah Drinkwitz.

If it’s between those three guys, I would think that Scott would be the leader. I’m not sure why he would leave Clemson for that job, though, unless he’s just really wanting to be a head coach.

He’d be taking a pay cut and it definitely wouldn’t be a great program to build anything. It would just be a jumping off point to get to maybe another Group of 5 program or a shot at a small Power 5 program, which I believe he could have by just staying at Clemson.

Right now, though, that’s the latest on Jeff Scott. I don’t know that he’ll leave Clemson, but we will definitely continue to monitor this situation and it’s clear that he deserves any opportunity that he wants to take.
