Tony Elliott

Tony Elliott won the Broyles Award, given to the best assistant coach in the country, on Tuesday.

This makes the second year in a row that a Tiger assistant has won the award. Venables won it last year.

Tony Elliott’s name was tightly linked to the UCF head coach opening.

Since that time, however, UCF has gone on to hire Josh Heupel as their next coach.

Heupel was the Missouri offensive coordinator before taking the position.

Now, Elliott’s name has been loosely tied to some other opening jobs like Oregon and a few others, but nothing major.

I wouldn’t expect too many Power 5 schools to starting calling just yet. It’s kind of a “wait and see game” with him, but I think it’s more likely that he stays in Clemson after seeing the UCF job filled today.
