Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney updated the status of his team Tuesday and it seems the injured Tigers will return this week against South Carolina.

Clemson football Dabo Swinney fielded plenty of questions about the rivalry and such during his Tuesday press conference.

Maybe the biggest amount of news, however, has to do with the injured players.

A total of six defensive starters have missed playing time with injuries at some point this season.

Kendall Joseph, Tre Lamar, Dexter Lawrence, Tanner Muse, Marcus Edmond and Mark Fields have all missed time as well as backup linebacker Chad Smith.

Joseph, Lamar, Smith and Lawrence were all out of the game against The Citadel on Saturday.

On the offensive side of the ball, left tackle Mitch Hyatt missed the game as well.

Dabo Swinney said that Joseph, Lawrence and Hyatt are all good to go. He also went on to say that Tre Lamar is still doubtful and that Chad Smith is questionable for Saturday against the Gamecocks.

Thoughts:

This is really good news if you’re a Clemson football fan. It seems that Tre Lamar will still be out and I wouldn’t be surprised if he missed the ACC Championship game as well, but I think he’ll be back for College Football Playoff, assuming two wins.

To me, one of the biggest feats, is getting both Marcus Edmond and Mark Fields back.

That defensive backfield had taken a hit as far as depth is concerned and them being back will really help the Tigers going forward.

Hopefully both Dexter Lawrence and Kendall Joseph will be back at close to full-strength this weekend as well.
