Clemson football defeated The Citadel on Military Appreciation Day and Senior Day in Death Valley. Here’s our analysis from the victory.

Clemson football defeated The Citadel to close out the home season 61-3 on Saturday.

The Tigers scored early and often on their way to the dismantling.

Here is the box score, stats, and analysis for the Tigers’ win.

Box Score:

Stats:

PASSING – Kelly Bryant 17-22-230 and 3 TDs; Hunter Johnson 7-8-144 and 1 TD.

RUSHING – Tavien Feaster 4-69 and 1 TD; Travis Etienne 8-62 and 2 TD.

RECEIVING – Tee Higgins 6-178 and 2 TD; Deon Cain 5-140 and 1 TD.

Clemson football had 662 yards of total offense and held The Citadel to just 216, most of which came in the second half with the third string guys in the game.

Analysis:

You can’t read a whole lot into a game like this. Of course the Tigers were supposed to beat The Citadel, but I was impressed with the focus they played with and the effort they showed.

Kelly Bryant looked about the same in the passing game, but hopefully a solid day will give him confidence going forward.

Both Travis Etienne and Tavien Feaster looked explosive out of the backfield, which is nothing new. Etienne broke the freshman record for touchdowns in a season, previously set by Clemson football great C.J. Spiller.

I really liked what I saw out of the second and third string guys on defense and it’s clear that Tee Higgins is explosive on offense.

Overall, it was a stress-free afternoon of celebration. We got to celebrate the military and the seniors in the last Saturday of football in Death Valley for 2017.
