Clemson football survived a tricky outing against the Florida State Seminoles on Saturday to win the ACC Atlantic Division.

The Clemson football team improved to 9-1 and clinched the ACC Atlantic Division championship with a 31-14 win over Florida State on Saturday.

The Tigers scored a couple of touchdowns late in the fourth quarter to secure the victory.

After getting up 17-0 in the first half and missing out on a couple of touchdowns by fumbling inside the Florida State five-yard line twice, the Tigers went quiet.

That led to the Seminoles making it a 17-14 game midway through the fourth quarter.

The turning point?

After Kelly Bryant fumbled the ball to give Florida State the ball on the right side of the field, Van Smith intercepted quarterback James Blackman.

Travis Etienne would punch it into the end zone a few plays later and the rest was history.

Box Score:

Stats:

PASSING- Kelly Bryant 20-30 for 151 yards.

RUSHING- Travis Etienne 14-97 and two TDs; Kelly Bryant 19-60 and 1 TD; Adam Choice 7-40 and 1 TD; Tavien Feaster 9-21.

Clemson’s defense held Florida State to just 21 yards rushing.

Analysis:

Florida State came out focused and ready to go, just as we thought they would.

Clemson football took control of the game early, but didn’t keep their foot on the gas pedal and that led to the game being closer than what Tiger fans would have wanted.

Overall, though, you can’t complain about a win.

I have some questions about Kelly Bryant’s passing efficiency. It has nothing to do with his physical ability, it has to do with his mentality. The one thing I’d like to see next week would be him complete the deep ball and have some fun.

Bryant plays his best with a little “swagger” and that’s what I’d like to see him get back.

This was a gutsy win for the Tigers and the best part? Clemson wins the ACC Atlantic Division.

What’s next?

Clemson will host The Citadel at 12 p.m. next Saturday for a purple-out. It should be a game that the Tigers are able to get healthy and build some depth before taking on in-state rival South Carolina the following week.
