Clemson football is one of the most relevant programs in today’s game for several reasons. Samford University released its inaugural College Football Relevance Rankings and have Clemson football coming in at No. 3.

The website claims to use metrics from social media to base the emotions of fans throughout the world of College Football.
They ran a survey of millions of football fans and were able to compile this list based off of those takeaways from the metrics.
Interestingly enough, Clemson’s rival South Carolina comes in at No. 11 on the list. After the Gamecocks are Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Florida, and Ohio State.
Why does it matter?
In the grand scheme of things, this poll is nothing more than metrics for research universities to use.
It doesn’t particularly mean anything for Clemson football, but I do think it’s interesting. The research does show that the Tigers are not just relevant because of the winning they have done, but because of their ability to be recognized.
Dabo Swinney has taken this little school from the upstate of South Carolina and turned it into a national power.
Teams out in the west recognize the paw and know what Clemson football stands for. It’s happening right here where the Blue Ridge yawns its greatness.
