Clemson Football: 5 best players through the first seven games
5. Kelly Bryant, QB
Clemson’s record to this point is due in large part to the steady play of Kelly Bryant. Coming into the season, there were questions if Bryant could get the job done as a passer. He has answered those questions thus far, completing 67.6 percent of his passes for 1,376 yards and four touchdowns.
At 6-foot-3, Bryant is built like a jumbo-running back. He may be faster than some of Clemson’s wide outs, with the power to run through would-be tacklers. The Tigers’ resurgence on the ground has been aided by Bryant’s explosiveness.
The junior gunslinger has been dinged up as of late, suffering an ankle injury versus Wake Forest and a concussion in the following contest with Syracuse. The bye week couldn’t come at any better time for Clemson, as Bryant could surely use the rest.
With a healthy Bryant behind center, the Tigers can compete with any team in the country moving forward.
