Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney will be chasing history when the Tigers travel up to the Carrier Dome to take ACC Atlantic foe Syracuse on Friday.
Clemson football has been blessed with one of the best coaches in America.
Dabo Swinney took over as the interim coach for the Tigers back in 2008 and has since won three ACC championships, made two College Football Playoff appearances, and won a National Title.
On Friday, Swinney will be chasing history.
A win against the Syracuse Orange would tie Dabo Swinney’s overall winning record as a coach with legendary figure Danny Ford.
Ford finished his career with a record of 96-29-4 in 11 years with Clemson football.
Swinney currently sits at 95-28 in 10 years with a winning percentage of 77.2%.
Ford sits second on the all-time list behind Frank Howard (165-118-2), but Swinney tying Ford’s record would be a huge accomplishment for the young coach.

Obviously, Dabo still has a ways to go to catch Frank Howard, but his winning percentage is much better and Howard was at Clemson for 30 years.
Thoughts:
There’s only been two coaches to ever lead Clemson football to a National Championship. A win on Friday would give them the same exact amount of wins.
As a matter of fact, they almost have the same winning percentage.
I think it’s just a testament to what Dabo Swinney has done at Clemson.
Without a doubt, he has built a culture and brand unlike anything else in the nation. On Friday, we will have the opportunity to celebrate his success, assuming a win, as his name is officially placed right beside Danny Ford’s on the total win chart.
I look forward to seeing what else is in store for Clemson football under Dabo Swinney’s leadership and there’s no questioning his legacy that has already been built in Tiger Town.

Hopefully, we’ll get to see him break Howard’s record before it’s all over and win several more National Titles along the way.
