It’s now being reported by several different sources that Auburn running back Kerryon Johnson may very well miss the Clemson football game due to injury.

Several different news organizations are reporting that Auburn running back Kerryon Johnson may miss the Clemson football game this Saturday due to injury.

Johnson, Auburn’s leading rusher and starting running back, carried the ball 16 times for 136 yards and a touchdown, mostly in the first half for the Tigers.

He has been all but officially ruled out for the game after not being able to practice this entire due to a hamstring injury.

As far as we know, Johnson will still make the trip with Auburn on Friday, but there’s little-to-no chance he sees playing time against Clemson football on Saturday.

Analysis:

Johnson spearheaded that Auburn rushing attack, especially due to the fact that Kamryn Pettway was serving a suspension to start the season.

Pettway will now be relied upon to provide a solid rush against Clemson football’s defense. Sophomore running back Kam Martin also will get his fair share of carries with Johnson out.

Overall, this is not good news for Auburn.

Johnson was the leader of that offense and the leading rusher. This certainly makes things at least a little easier for Clemson football moving forward. Auburn was going to be relying upon that running game and missing a star running back doesn’t help their case.

War Eagle still has the talent to rush the ball, but there’s no doubting this being a huge blow to them.

Losing your leading rusher is never a good thing, but it really hurts when you’re going on the road in a hostile environment to face one of the best defenses in America.
