Clemson Football: 5 Storylines to watch vs. Auburn
3. Gus Malzahn’s job security
A loss to Clemson isn’t going to get Gus Malzahn fired, but it’s something to watch.
Malzahn enters this season on the hot seat.
There were many rumors last season that Malzahn could be gone, but the Tigers decided to keep him.
Auburn hasn’t beaten Alabama since 2013 and, really, hasn’t competed for an SEC West title in that long as well.
In 2014, the Tigers went 8-5 followed by a 7-6 performance in 2015.
Last season War Eagle finished the year 8-5 and it’s clear that many fans are beginning to grow impatient.
Malzahn needs a signature win.
Could a win at Clemson be that for him? It certainly wouldn’t hurt matters.
As I said before, a loss at Clemson isn’t going to get him fired, but a win could move him from the hot seat.
A lot rests on him coming into this game and it’s definitely something to keep your eye on as you prepare for this matchup.
