Clemson football begins the 2017 season with a home game against Kent State. Here’s our pick against the spread for the Tigers against the Golden Flashes.
Clemson football will start its’ 2017 season in just one day.
The Tigers will open up the home slate with a matchup against the Kent State Golden Flashes out of the Mid-American Conference.
While the outcome of this came is pretty much decided barring something unforeseen, the spread can be rather difficult to predict.
Clemson will be looking to replace some of the greatest Tigers in history including Deshaun Watson, Wayne Gallman, Jordan Leggett, and Mike Williams.
All that being considered, here’s our pick against the spread for Clemson football’s season opener.
Kent State Golden Flashes at #5 Clemson Tigers Pick Against the Spread:
Spread: Clemson -40
Spread Prediction: I’ll take Clemson minus the 40.
I know that 40 is a lot of points. That means Kent State is up 40 points to begin the game.
Can Clemson football really beat the Golden Flashes by 40?
I believe the answer is yes and here’s why.
Kent State is just not good enough to hang around with Clemson. The third-string guys on the Tigers’ depth chart are better than the Golden Flashes’ first-string.
Kent State will also be without their head coach, Paul Haynes, who has taken a medical leave of absence. All of that combined makes me believe it’s fairly safe to take the Tigers minus the points at home to open the season.
It will be up to Kelly Bryant and the other guys to step up. I expect that Deon Cain has a big day and I’m interested to see how the freshmen, such as Amari Rodgers, Tee Higgins, and Travis Etienne, perform in the time they get on the field.
