Clemson Football: 5 Storylines to Watch vs. Kent State
5. The Quarterback situation.
Let’s get the obvious out the way first.
All eyes in Death Valley on Saturday will be on the quarterback. Every single Clemson football fan wants to know exactly how the offense will run with Kelly Bryant at them helm and what the backups behind him look like.
We’ve already been told by the coaching staff that all three quarterbacks will play.
Kelly Bryant will get the start, Zerrick Cooper will be the first off the bench, and then we will see Hunter Johnson at some point during this game.
I’m ready to see it for myself.
I believe, even against Kent State, you can judge whether what’s been said about Kelly Bryant is coach speak or if he’s truly ready to lead the offense.
I want to see him throw the ball down the field with accuracy. I want to see him make the right reads. I want to see how he looks when he’s under pressure.
If he can do those things, then we can move forward and see if it translates against Auburn.
If he can’t do those things and then we see a Hunter Johnson or Zerrick Cooper come out and shine, that may not bode well for Bryant having the Clemson football fan’s confidence going forward.
It’s certainly the most intriguing of all the storylines and will be something that, most likely, won’t be going away after this week.
