Tight End: Milan Richard

Almost by default, you have to have Milan Richard as the star of the tight ends.

This is a position that, in all honesty, is going to take a significant step back at least on paper. Garrett Williams, the projected starter, is out with an ACL injury and there’s just not much depth there.

I’d expect Clemson football to go with more four-wide sets and use the tight end primarily as a lead-blocker.

Shadell Bell, who was a former wide receiver, has the ability to be a threat in the passing game, but was hampered by a calf injury for the better part of fall camp. The other candidates are Cannon Smith, DJ Greenlee, and JC Chalk.

There are a few options in that group, but none of them have blown anyone away this fall camp.

Richard has been solid in his blocking and if he can just give any kind of threat of being able to be a receiving threat, the Tigers will be fine.

This is a position group that will be examined by the coaching staff all season.

Right now, the answer still hasn’t come, but as far as fall camp is concerned, Milan Richard won the position and did so with fair consistency.
